The door creaked open as Tizzrah pushed, two dark violets peering into the darkness. The figure wasn’t hard to find; illuminated only by a dim overhead light, Vensik sat with legs crossed in an aisle, head down and spirits burdened. He didn’t acknowledge her as she sat beside him, her vision drifting to the floor where he could see something she couldn’t. Finally the silence was broken.

            “It hurts.”

Tizz nodded, caressing his hand in sympathy. “I know.”

Discomfort settled over them then, like a dark cloud threatening to burst open any moment. A sigh brushed Vensik’s lips. “What do I do now?”

            “Hope.”

“You can still talk to them. Change things. Maybe it’ll help.”

Tizzrah exhaled sadly, a glimmer of a tear visible upon her cheek. “I can’t. I just.. can’t. I wish you could understand.”

Vensik’s only response was to jerk his hand from her grasp, looking away. “I understand you’d rather fuck me over than touch me. But you won’t even do that though, will you?” His tone was bitter and angry, and Tizz could only stare at him for a moment, his words sinking in and cutting her like a knife.

Tizz swallowed. “H.. how can you say that? I love you..”

“Save it for someone who cares.” He pushed himself up, looking down at her with disgust. “I’ve put up with your shit for too long, and for nothing. I’ve dealt with my parents these past years for nothing. This is all because of you. My family would be fine if it wasn’t for you.” A glare had assaulted his face. “Every time I asked you to touch me you wouldn’t… but you certainly weren’t hesitant about spreading your legs for me. You’re nothing but a whore, like they said.”

Tizz trembled, scraping up sound from her throat to speak. Her face was wet with grief. “You don’t mean that. Tell me you don’t mean that.”

“I mean it more than I’ve ever meant anything.”

A sob choked her and she looked away, claws clutching her neck as if to tear it open. “You said you loved me.. all those shared kisses and tender moments.. they meant.. nothing..?”

            “Nothing.”

“You said we were going to be married.. I followed you here to college.. I love you more than anything, Vensik, please.. take it back. Gods, take it back..”

She was interrupted by a sound kick to her jaw which knocked her off balance. Her lip cracked painfully against her teeth, splitting open. Blood spattered to the carpet along with her tears. Vensik fumed over her. “Shut up. I won’t take it back. I don’t love you, Tizz. I never did.” He turned and walked, tail swishing violently behind him.

Even through her pain, Tizzrah blindly stood, stumbling after him. “Vensik, please..” she whispered, droplets of red falling and staining her clothes as she grabbed his arm. He tossed her aside into the nearby wall, shaking his head.

“Don’t you dare follow me. I never want to see you again. Goodbye, Tizz.”

Tizzrah sat and watched as Vensik disappeared through a side door. The sound of it closing was deafening, and for a moment, she didn’t know where she was. But then reality hit and she collapsed in her misery, crying and bleeding on the floor. She fell from innocence, breaking her bones against the sides. There she remained.

            Fallen.
